During the Institute, we will visit several sites.

Slavery at Monticello

This will be a day trip with a guided tour focusing on the slavery at Monticello. The Institute will charter a bus to transport all participants there. The Institute will also purchase the tickets for all participants.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

We plan to arrange a guided tour for the entire group focusing on the history of slavery in America and its legacy. Participants will travel to this site by public transportation. (Each participant will get a preloaded metro card.) Free entry.

The Price of Georgetown: A Walking Tour of Slavery, Memory, and Reconciliation at Georgetown University

Professor Adam Rothman, the founding director of Georgetown’s Center for the Study of Slavery and Its Legacies, will guide us through this tour.
